“Speedy Phoebe by Ryanne Siddiq is A Carson Elementary Story. Phoebe is a dreamer whose biggest dream is to be the world's greatest race car. The school field day is coming up, and Phoebe spends hours racing around her house to practice. On the day of the race, Phoebe is disheartened when she hears the other carlettes boasting about their skills - she doesn't have the power or the grace they have. There are three races – how will Phoebe perform? And is it always all about winning?
Speedy Phoebe by Ryanne Siddiq is a wonderful, heartwarming story about a little race car who wants to be the best. It is accompanied by some amazing, colorful illustrations to bring it to life in readers' minds. This may be a cute story but it does contain some important messages. It teaches kids that it's good to dream and that it's even better to work hard to attain those dreams. But it also teaches that it isn't always about winning – compassion brings better rewards than winning a race. It's also about rising above bullies, overcoming self-doubt, and learning to be exactly who you are, not what you think others want you to be. This lovely story will delight kids of all ages and is a great tale that will teach them so much about life. Even if they don't realize it at the time, the message will sink in and stay with them for life. A thoroughly enjoyable story, and highly recommended for kids everywhere.”

“Ryanne Siddiq knows how to attract and keep a child’s attention, and she does this very well in Speedy Phoebe (A Carson Elementary Story). Phoebe is a small race car, known as a “carlette,” who is excited about the upcoming field day at her school. Phoebe wants to be a great race car, just like her dad. She races against Leo and McKayla, who outrun her in the first two races. Even though Phoebe lost the first two races, she lines up to start the third and final race. Does she win this race? Or is she a complete loser? How do you handle setbacks? Your child will love this children’s picture book and learn important lessons about never giving up.
Like most humans, children must learn to accept themselves, including their shortcomings. Speedy Phoebe by Ryanne Siddiq helps children understand that they are still worthy even if they can’t do everything. Through Phoebe’s undefeated spirit, she eventually sees she is the true winner because she never gave up. Reading this children’s picture book to and with your child will open discussions concerning self-worth, self-acceptance, and perseverance. As Winston Churchill said, “It is always too soon to give up.” Defeat is only temporary if you do not give up and quit. Help your children know they are unconditionally accepted and loved. Love and acceptance are not based on performance but are given freely because of love. Your child will also enjoy the vivid illustrations by Matt Tooth.”

“Speedy Phoebe: A Carson Elementary Story by Ryanne Siddiq tells the story of Phoebe, a carlette who is excited about the field day at Carson Elementary School. She prepares herself in every possible way, determined to ace the races. However, when she overhears her fellow carlettes bragging about their abilities shortly before the race, her enthusiasm and confidence start to fade. Phoebe’s anxiety gets the better of her, adversely affecting her performance. Before the final race, she remembers her father’s advice about doing her best and having fun, which renews her confidence and encourages her to try again. Can Phoebe reach her goal this time?
Ryanne Siddiq’s Speedy Phoebe is a charming picture book with valuable lessons for young readers. Phoebe’s thoughts and emotions concerning the field day make her a believable and relatable character. Through her, Ryanne shows how fear and a lack of confidence can hold us back from doing our best. I also appreciated the emphasis on the fact that we do not necessarily have to finish first all the time; there are far greater things in life for us to value, like the people we meet and the experiences we gather. One of the best sides of the story is Phoebe’s unconditional sympathy toward her fellow carlettes. Although they are initially mean toward her, Phoebe does not think twice before getting help for them. She is rewarded for her kindness, and the story ends on a high note. I would recommend the book for children aged four to six.”
